Yeah, H&R, where were you?

From a comment on an earlier post:

I wonder why the Herald and Review is ignoring these stories about St. Mary's Hospital:

And from 8/10/07:

I suspect that the piles of money from DMH that litter Gary Sawyer's desk at the DMH Herald & Review prevented him from seeing these important stories.

Great stories from Springfield. Too bad we can't get this news locally. Small insignificant protest on my part against the H&R - cancelled my subscription.
Could Ken's empire be starting to crumble slowly but inevitably? Let's hope Caterpillar's wise decision to offer its employees and retirees a choice in healthcare is just the tip of the iceberg. Come on other employers - give your employees a choice. They will thank you in the long run. They will receive quality care at St. Mary's at the same price you are paying DMH. Hoping there is a domino effect starting here. One large employer has the wisdom to say NO to Ken, we care more about our people and many more will follow suit.
By the way, is Ken starting to get nervous? Have you seen that large billboard DMH put up just north of Miles Chevy thanking Cat for 15 years of forcing their insured to use DMH? First billboard I have seen in Decatur in years not bragging about THEIR doctors, but actually thanking an insurer for forcing their patients to use DMH.
Seemed kind of desperate to me!
WONDER WHAT GIVING 8000 INSURED PATIENTS A CHOICE OF WHICH HOSPITAL WILL DO TO KEN'S BONUS THIS YEAR?
Will the people of this area soon have a choice again after all these years? I hope so for our community.
DMH owned doctors, take note. Your patients are NOT happy. You will not lose patients if you allow your patients to go to St. Mary's. They will thank you for allowing them a choice. Unless you doctors have signed lifelong contracts with DMH I suggest you refuse to sign the next contract Ken tries to force you to sign.

Here's another story in today's State Journal-Register in Springfield, Ill., reporting on the progress of the investigation of our own DMH in DECATUR.

Hooray to Dr Ron Ruecker for his letter to the Herald & Review editor blasting Smithmier for forcing doctors in Decatur to use only 1 hospital (DMH).

Are there anymore doctors in Decatur with the courage to tell Smithmier we will no longer let you tell us how we must practice medicine? Surely there are a few.

Thank you Herald and Review for printing Dr Ruecker's letter.

Dr Ruecker is an excellent doctor. I know he retired a few months ago but can't help but wonder if this fine MD would still be caring for people in Decatur if Smithmier hadn't been using his strong arm tactics on Decatur doctors. Another great doctor lost here because of Smithmier.

Thank you Caterpillar for finally giving your employees a choice. Many will choose St Mary's now after 15 years of poor care at DMH.

Are there anymore employers out there willing to give workers a choice? I hope and think so.

Could that sound I hear be sweat dripping from Smithmier worrying about whether or not there is finally a crack in the dike and his empire is starting to crumble?

Or could that sound I hear be Smithmier sweating because his felonies are starting to catch up with him and he is starting to worry about what prison life will be like?

If he is lucky he will be sent to a prison where there are no former DMH patients or prisoners or guards who lost loved ones at DMH because of the poor care DMH delivers.

Let justice be served!
