Your Voice: What's Going On At DMH?
As many have not taken advantage of blogDecatur, or perhaps do not trust in the ability to remain truly anonymous, I have decided to open up this post only for comments.
So...what's going on at DMH?
So...what's going on at DMH?

Nothing's going on at DMH. Except bribery and violations of anti-trust statutes, that's all.
Pettinger's going to nail Smithmier bad.
The question is, who will go with him? Stone, Peacock, Fahey?
I work at DMH. I've been talking to patients admitted by the hospitalists.
They think their care is okay, but they would much prefer to have their own doctors see them in the hospital.
Many of my co-workers also have the same feelings. Fortunately for me, my doctor goes to both hospitals, and I truly have a choice.
if smithmier doesnt go to jail, watcher2300 is gonna meltdown.
Actually, the entire town will melt down. Thankfully, we don't have to worry about that for too much longer...
I've run through the numbers on the hospitalist situation you mentioned. I can't figure out how they could ever make money unless
a) the hospitalists order more lab tests, blood tests, and xrays than the family doc would; this would increase revenue to the hospital
b) they discharge medicare patients from the hospital at least one day or more before the govenment's "allowed" days, thereby making more money. (Is that what DRG's are?)
c) the family docs are "let go" from their outpatient only position, and DMH doesn't have to pay their salary anymore.
d) about 20 more family docs give up their patients to these four hospitalists. Since that is very unlikely to happen, I'll count this one out.
Your right Watcher, their losing money right and left. It just don't make sense.
where are the indictments?
Be patient, my friends, be patient.
The axe will strike, but only when the head is in perfect position.
Word among the doctors at DMH (nothing official from administration, though) is that everything is over, they've paid fines, and they've corrected any unethical arrangements. No one in the hospital that I know of discussed it for months -- AT ALL. It was like nothing was going on, so I'm not sure if this is true or not.
The word I've heard from my friends who work at DMH is that the indictments are coming, and that Mr. Pettinger is still on the case.
