St. Mary's Press Release Found!!!

An employee of St. Mary's gave me a copy of the press release that Michael Rindler and CEO Anthony Pfitzer distributed almost two weeks ago. You won't see it in the Decatur Herald and Review, so here it is:

An Open Letter to the Community

St. Mary's Hospital has been an integral part of our community as a provider of quality healthcare for over 127 years and remains more committed now than ever before to its mission of serving area residents. St. Mary's has always believed that the community benefits from having two hospitals because patients and physicians should have a choice for hospital and medical care. St. Mary's is committed to continue its operations so the potential for choice continues to exist.

Like others in our community, St. Mary's has heard reports that certain federal and state agencies are investigating Decatur Memorial Hospital. The reported investigations describe practices that could directly impact St. Mary's ability to continue its operations. If patients have been prevented from having free choice to select St. Mary's as their hospital, this is improper and damaging to St. Mary's. St. Mary's is concerned about these reports, but cannot at this time comment on investigations because the full details are not yet known.

St. Mary's does want to address the speculation that it is responsible for reporting Decatur Memorial Hospital to the authorities. These rumors are not true. No one in administration or on the Board of St. Mary's or the Hospital Sisters Health System did anything to request these investigations.

St. Mary's does want to assure the public that it remains committed to the community and to the health care professionals who use it to provide medical care. St. Mary's will continue providing quality health care. St. Mary's is fully engaged in a program of revitalizing its patient services, facilities, and medical technology to assure its continued presence in Decatur and all of the central Illinois communities it has so proudly served for the past 127 years.

You all be the judge, but this reporter does not see anything that a lawyer needs to review.
